YARD SIGN FIASCO
Yard Sign Fiasco
Well, this past month was a whirlwind of activity at UTD. March was filled with lots of fun, fellowship, and theft! You read correctly! We had yard sign thievery! Apart from the excitement of our yard signs, this month we had the pleasure of playing host to out-of-state friends and had a great time of out reaching to the students of UTD.
The Yard Signs
A couple weeks ago before UTDs spring break, our team came up with a new and exciting plan to advertise our sermon series that we started for the rest of the semester. The sermon series revolved around the question, "Does Jesus Care About _____". The sermons have been talking about poverty, depression, politics, dating, and so many other topics. Like any good advertising campaign, we took our main tagline question of "Does Jesus Care About ____" and posted yard signs all around campus. Boy oh boy did were we met with a surprising response from the students. Their response came in the form of stealing our yard signs! Yikes! It seems that some people weren't too happy about our signs and took it upon themselves to help "collect" them for us. But never to fear! We made more! New and ready to spread the truth that Jesus indeed cares about a whole range of topics.
Friends From the Northwest
This month we also had the pleasure of hosting students and staff from a sister ministry, Christian Campus Fellowship, located up in Bellingham Washington. These students sign up to spend their spring break with us learning how to outreach to students and talk about Jesus on our campus. It was a great time getting to reach out to our students and ask them all sorts of thought-provoking questions about God. Our Washington students really enjoyed the opportunity to learn and grow in sharing their faith with others.
Outreach
This month's outreach activities revolved around people's relationship with themselves and God. We asked questions like "If you could meet God, what question would you ask him?" or "Assuming God is real, what would you want him to be like?" These questions not only engaged students who believe in God but also those who don't. It was very interesting to see their responses posted on our bulletins.
Worship Buddy
For those of you who don't already know, I'm married! Hooray! What a sweet year it has been getting to explore marriage with my sweet wife Caroline. This month was extra special with her joining me in leading worship this past month. It is such a blessing to get to worship together with such a large and passionate group of young people on a Friday night. It often reminds me of what a gift it is to have such a loving and worshipful community here at UTD. I also was asked to introduce a song I wrote called "Come and See". It was received very well and a neat experience to share something that I wrote with the community during worship.
Thank You!
Once again I am so thankful for your support in the journey of ministry. Truly, without your help, I would not be able to have such an amazing and fun job introducing people to Jesus and teaching them all about how incredible he is. Your support really does have an impact on the lives of young people at UTD. Thank you!
